Lead Hypophosphite, Pb(H2PO2)2
Lead Hypophosphite, Pb(H2PO2)2, is obtained by dissolving lead oxide or carbonate in aqueous hypophosphorous acid, and crystallising the solution. The salt forms leaflets or rhombic prisms, and is much more soluble in hot water than cold. Like other hypophosphites, it evolves spontaneously inflammable phosphine when heated, and leaves a residue of phosphate.
