Lead Perchlorate, Pb(ClO4)2
Lead Perchlorate, Pb(ClO4)2.3H2O, is formed, not by ignition of the chlorate, but by dissolving lead oxide or carbonate in aqueous perchloric acid. It crystallises in soluble, white needles, which hold their water very tenaciously. The basic salt Pb(ClO4)2.PbO.2H2O is known.
