Lead Ethoxide, Pb(OC₂H₅)₂

Lead Ethoxide, Pb(OC₂H₅)₂, is obtained when lead in thin sheets is suspended over absolute ethyl alcohol through which ozone is passed. After washing with alcohol, and drying over sulphuric acid in vacuo, it forms a light yellow powder, which is soluble in water, but is readily hydrolysed. Several other lead alkyloxides have been prepared.
